The Invitation From Jesus To You

John 3
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

John 20
31But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

John 10
10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Revelation 19
9Then the angel said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!' " And he added, "These are the true words of God."

Jesus came to fulfill the law. He came to live a perfect life, and to die on the cross to save us from our sinful condition. We sin without even knowing about it. He invites everyone who hears his word to believe in him. But we are unable by our own power to do this. So he sends the Holy Spirit to give us that ability.

If you have read this far into "The Gate", and also have read much of the rest of this site, you can know that you are invited.

Romans 10
17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

You have read some of this word. You have read my writing on his word, his life, his death, and his resurrection. You have now read and/or heard the message. It is through the message of salvation through Christ Jesus that faith comes to you. You may be feeling something in your heart tugging at you. You may even be feeling the tug in two different directions. You can be sure that one of those tugs is the Holy Spirit tapping on the door of your heart with the gift of faith. Recieve that gift, do not turn away from it. The invitation is for everyone.

Acts 2
39The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call."

The promise was not just for those Peter spoke to in Acts 2. It was for them, for their children, and for those who are far off. Not only those far away in distance, but also in time. Two thousand years is a long time, a far distance from the time of Jesus and the apostles. But the word of God is alive, even today. God does not change.

Malachi 3
6 "I the LORD do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.

Hebrews 4
12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

So now you have been called. You have received the invitation to come to the Lord. What is your response?
